The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa has announced its participation in National Night Out events on August 5, 2025. The office will join law enforcement partners and community members at gatherings across the district.

U.S. Attorney Timothy T. Duax stated, “National Night Out is a perfect opportunity for neighbors to join with their law enforcement and community partners to demonstrate that crime does not rule the night. Keeping our neighborhoods safe is a true team effort. National Night Out allows us to acknowledge the accomplishments of our neighborhood organizations that keep communities safe, and to thank our law enforcement officers for putting their lives on the line for us.”

National Night Out is an annual event aimed at strengthening relationships between law enforcement and communities in order to improve public safety. Each year, millions participate in activities held across thousands of communities nationwide on the first Tuesday of August.

The initiative began in 1984 with support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance within the U.S. Department of Justice and is overseen by the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit organization.
