Eastbound Interstate 80 will be closed from Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118) to the Southwest Mixmaster in West Des Moines on Tuesday, September 2. The Iowa Department of Transportation's Creston construction office announced that the closure will take place from 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day, weather permitting, to allow for the removal of sign trusses.
Motorists traveling this route should follow a marked detour using Grand Prairie Parkway and University Avenue to reach I-35/I-80 (exit 124). The Iowa DOT advises drivers to exercise caution, adhere to posted speed limits and signs in the work area, and note that traffic fines for moving violations are doubled in work zones.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
