The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has launched new radio and digital advertisements in Iowa’s 1st District to thank Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks for her support in making the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent.

This campaign is part of NFIB’s ongoing advocacy to secure the deduction, which was first introduced in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The ads recognize Rep. Miller-Meeks for her vote, which NFIB says helps prevent a significant tax increase on small business owners.

According to Matt Everson, NFIB Iowa State Director, “Making the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent is a big win for Main Street. By voting to protect this tax relief, Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks has given small business owners in Iowa the certainty they need to grow their operations, continue creating jobs, and give back to their communities. NFIB appreciates her leadership in standing up for small businesses in our state.”

The deduction allows eligible small business owners to deduct up to 20% of their qualified business income. NFIB maintains that this provision supports smaller firms by reducing their tax burden compared to larger corporations.
