U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa hosted Steve Doocy from Fox & Friends for a walk on his New Hartford farm, where they discussed topics ranging from agriculture to legislative efforts and Grassley's long career in public service.

During the walk, Grassley spoke about his efforts to highlight the role of farmers through social media. “I try to tell people, as much as I can, about the two percent of Americans that grow the food for the other 98 percent. I have what you call #CornWatch and #SoybeanWatch, where, starting in April through October harvest, I give updates on the crops in Iowa.”

Grassley also addressed a legislative proposal known as Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill. He explained its potential impact: “[The One Big Beautiful Bill] is a good thing because if we don’t pass it, we’d automatically have the biggest tax increase in the history of the country – that’d be about $4.7 trillion.”

He continued by outlining benefits for various groups: “It’s good because it helps working Americans, because there’s not going to be any tax on tips or tax on overtime. Seniors are going to get some help with an increased tax deduction, and it’s good because it saves a lot of money. We’ve got a deficit, and we’ve got to get it under control.”

Reflecting on his ties to Iowa compared with time spent in Washington D.C., Grassley remarked: “[When I’m in Washington], I miss the broad space and dirt under your feet. You know, out of 435 congressional districts, there’s probably only 60 that have dirt in their district. The rest of it’s cement. Getting out here in the real world, it’s pretty good.”

“Washington is an island surrounded by reality. This is real America,” Grassley said.
