The Iowa Department of Transportation has announced nighttime closures for eastbound Interstate 80 between Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118) and Jordan Creek Parkway (exit 121). These closures are scheduled for paving work on September 28, September 29, and October 2. The specific closure times are from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
During these times, drivers will need to follow a marked detour route using Grand Prairie Parkway, University Avenue, and Jordan Creek Parkway. The Iowa DOT advises motorists to drive cautiously in the work zone, adhere to speed limits, and note that traffic fines for violations are doubled in these areas.
Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts. For real-time travel information, drivers can access the Iowa DOT's 511 system online at https://iowadot.gov/travel-tools/iowa-511/511-social-media-sites or by calling 511 within Iowa or 800-288-1047 nationwide.
