The Iowa Department of Transportation has announced a temporary closure of westbound Interstate 80 in Polk County. The closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, to 4 a.m. on Friday, October 10, weather permitting. This closure is necessary for the removal of an overhead sign truss near mile marker 137.9.
During this period, drivers will be directed to follow a marked detour route. The detour will use the westbound exit ramp from I-80 to northbound I-35, then northbound I-35 to Corporate Woods Drive, and finally southbound I-35 back to westbound I-80.
Motorists are reminded by the Iowa DOT to exercise caution while driving through work zones. It is important to obey posted speed limits and other signs as traffic fines for moving violations are doubled in these areas. Drivers should remain alert, maintain ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
