The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) has introduced a new public engagement platform, PublicInput.com, to enhance its interaction with citizens regarding transportation projects. This initiative aims to streamline online engagement and facilitate data-driven decision-making.

The updated portal is designed to be more user-friendly, allowing Iowans to provide feedback on projects affecting their travel. It also seeks to reduce participation barriers by offering an accessible community engagement experience. The new system supports both email and voicemail comments for those without internet access.

Previously, the feedback portal was accessed via a Bitly.com link, but now users will use "publicinput.com" for communication. The Iowa DOT emphasizes its commitment to public involvement through various channels such as online comments, videos, Open Houses, and Public Hearings at different project stages. These events address issues like detours, road closures, or right-of-way needs.

For more information on engaging with the Iowa DOT about local projects, visit their Public Involvement website. Travelers can access the latest information anytime through the 511 system by visiting 511ia.org or calling 511 within Iowa or 800-288-1047 nationwide.
