The University of Iowa Hawkeyes football team was defeated by Wisconsin 7-27 on Oct. 30.
“Final Score: Wisconsin 27, Iowa 7,” Hawkeye Football wrote in a Twitter post.
Hawk Central reported that the Iowa-Wisconsin rivalry remained mostly unchanged in the past four years as the Hawkeyes suffered another bad performance under offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz's watch where Iowa’s offense struggled in the match. Iowa gained 156 yards for the game on 55 plays, but only had 17 yards at halftime. It rushed 30 times for only 24 yards with the quarterbacks getting sacked six times.
"You continue to learn more about your players as the season goes on — what they can do, what they can’t do. And we’ve got to figure out a better way to plan, to give them a better chance," head coach Kirk Ferentz said, according to Hawk Central. "I don’t think there’s any one specific reason right now. We’re just not executing well enough to get the job done."
The Hawkeyes stop working when their run game doesn’t work, because when that happens, they have nothing else to lean on and nothing else in their offense works, according to Go Iowa Awesome.
Wisconsin had 270 yards of total offense in the game with 48 rushes for 166 yards.
