Fireworks Prohibited In City of Grinnell

70

As the 4th of July approaches, the Grinnell Police Department would like to remind residents and visitors that the discharge of consumer fireworks is prohibited within Grinnell, as directed by City Ordinance 41.12.

This includes the discharge of consumer fireworks by those attending the July 4th activities at Ahrens Park. In cooperation with Ahrens Park staff and managment, signs will be posted to remind attendees that the discharge of consumer fireworks is prohibited. Grinnell officers will also be present to enforce this ordinance. With the number of persons attending this great event, it becomes a safety issue with the discharge of consumer fireworks in such close proximity to others.

The Grinnell Police Department would like to extend a Happy AND SAFE 4th of July to our residents and visitors. We encourage those who purchase and/or possess consumer fireworks to research where they can legally discharge them in the Poweshiek County area, and do so in those jurisdictions.
