NFIB Iowa Leadership Council members Lana Pol and Marcie Strouse recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to advocate for the permanency of the 20% Small Business Deduction. This deduction was established as part of the 2017 tax law to provide small businesses with a level playing field against larger corporations. It has supported small business owners in overcoming economic challenges over recent years but is scheduled to expire at the end of 2025. The Main Street Tax Certainty Act aims to make this deduction permanent, preventing a significant tax increase on many of America's small businesses.
The NFIB Iowa Twitter account acknowledged their efforts: "NFIB #Iowa Leadership Council Members Lana Pol & Marcie Strouse are in Washington urging lawmakers to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent. Thank you both for fighting for #SmallBiz!"
Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks expressed her support via social media after meeting with Lana Pol: "Great to meet with @nfib_ia and Lana Pol, an Iowa small business owner who testified at our field hearing in August. We discussed the vital 199A small business deduction and the severe economic consequences if it expires in 2025."
Senator Joni Ernst also engaged with NFIB members regarding this issue. A tweet from NFIB read: "Thank you, @SenJoniErnst for discussing the importance of the 20% Small Business Deduction with NFIB members. Small businesses are the foundation of America’s economy! Protect their right to hire and grow."
Additionally, Senator Chuck Grassley communicated with NFIB members about the significance of maintaining this deduction. As highlighted by NFIB's Twitter account: "The 20% Small Business Deduction protects #smallbiz owners’ right to grow their business and give back to their community. Thank you, @ChuckGrassely, for speaking with NFIB members about its importance."
