A Cedar Rapids resident has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute. Antonio Clarence Robertson, 33, was sentenced on June 30, 2025, following his guilty plea on January 16, 2025.

The case against Robertson began when Cedar Rapids Police Department officers stopped a vehicle on December 21, 2023. Robertson was a passenger in the vehicle and officers observed him tucking an object beneath himself. When ordered out of the vehicle, he initially refused but was subsequently removed by officers who discovered an unlabeled pill bottle containing fentanyl pills where he had been seated.

Further search revealed multiple plastic bags with additional pills in Robertson's possession. In total, officers seized 227 pills containing fentanyl during the traffic stop. Prior to this incident, officers suspected that Robertson had sold narcotics to another individual. The following day, December 22, 2023, Robertson admitted to investigators that he had sold fentanyl.
