A Fort Dodge man was sentenced to over 15 years in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. Chad Brown, aged 41, pleaded guilty on January 29, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

During the sentencing hearing, Brown admitted his role in distributing several pounds of methamphetamine between January and April 2024. On April 22, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Brown's residence in Fort Dodge, discovering approximately 74 grams of methamphetamine and two loaded handguns. Brown has a significant criminal history that includes a felony conviction for delivering methamphetamine in Oregon in 2016 and multiple prior firearms-related convictions.

United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Brown to 186 months' imprisonment followed by a ten-year term of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system. Until he is transported to a federal prison, Brown remains in the custody of the United States Marshal.

Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood prosecuted the case following an investigation by the Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
