The Senate Judiciary Committee has unanimously approved the Holocaust Expropriated Art Recovery Act of 2025. The legislation, led by Senators John Cornyn and Richard Blumenthal, with Chairman Chuck Grassley as a cosponsor, aims to assist Holocaust survivors in reclaiming artwork stolen from them. The bill is designed to ensure that legal cases are decided based on their merits rather than being hindered by procedural barriers.

According to the committee, "The bipartisan bill would help reunite Holocaust survivors with their stolen artwork by ensuring that their cases are adjudicated on the merits and procedural loopholes don’t stand in the way of justice."

In addition to advancing this legislation, the committee also moved forward with the nomination of Thomas Ferguson III for U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. The vote for his nomination was 13-9.
