Eastbound Interstate 80 from Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118) to the Southwest Mixmaster will be closed on Tuesday night, November 11. The Iowa Department of Transportation's Creston construction office has announced this nighttime closure to facilitate grading and concrete pavement work. The closure will begin at 8:30 p.m. on November 11 and is expected to end by 5 a.m. on November 12, weather permitting.

During the closure, motorists needing access to southbound I-35 or eastbound I-235 should follow a marked detour via Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118), University Avenue, and southbound I-35. For those traveling northbound on I-35 or eastbound on I-80, the detour will use Valley West Drive/100th Street and U.S. 6/Hickman Road.

The Iowa DOT advises drivers to exercise caution in the work zone, adhere to posted speed limits and signs, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are doubled in these areas. Drivers are reminded to stay alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.

For up-to-date traveler information, motorists can access the Iowa DOT's 511 system at any time. Information is available online at https://iowadot.gov/travel-tools/iowa-511/511-social-media-sites or by calling 511 within Iowa or 800-288-1047 nationwide.
