The Iowa Department of Transportation has announced nighttime closures on eastbound Interstate 80 from Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118) to the Southwest Mixmaster starting Monday, October 27. The closures will occur from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on both Monday, October 27, and Tuesday, October 28. These closures are necessary for concrete paving and ramp widening.
Travelers heading to southbound I-35 or eastbound I-235 will need to follow a marked detour via Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118), University Avenue, and southbound I-35. For those traveling towards northbound I-35/eastbound I-80, the route includes Valley West Drive/100th Street and U.S. 6/Hickman Road.
The Iowa DOT advises drivers to exercise caution in work zones by obeying speed limits and posted signs. Traffic fines for violations in these areas are doubled. Motorists should remain alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
